Why are Linen shirts more expensive than Cotton?
Are linen shirts expensive? Well, think of linen as the fine wine of clothing. Like most high end wines, linen clothing tends to be more expensive (than cotton) because it is rarer, and it takes time to make…like a fine wine. As an example, linen is more difficult and costly to harvest and produce than most other materials. The linen fiber is hidden inside the flax stalks, so extracting it is a longer and more laborious process than, say, cotton.
In summary, yes, linen is more expensive than, say, cotton, however, the price of linen material reflects its durability, rarity, harvesting methods and manufacturing processes.
I look forward to seeing you wear my premium linen shirts for years to come.
